Seasonal traditions

What Autumn holds

Try one of these ideas with your family, then use your Harvest book to keep the details you would like to return to.

Autumn

The Gathering-In

A familiar autumn outing can give your family something to look forward to each year.

Visit an orchard, choose pumpkins, or take a walk to see the leaves change. Invite everyone to name one part of the day they would like to repeat.

In your book Keep the place, time of year, and small details that made the outing work for your family.

Autumn

Thanksgiving & Gratitude

A Thanksgiving tradition can be as simple as giving each person time to say what they are thankful for.

Before the meal, invite everyone to share a memory or a person they appreciate. Younger children can draw their answers or ask someone to write for them.

In your book Record the date and a few of the words shared around the table, along with the names of those who gathered.

Autumn

The Autumn Table

Family recipes often hold stories of the people who first brought them to the table.

Make a favorite pie, soup, or Thanksgiving dish with someone who knows it well. Ask about the steps they do from memory and measure them together.

In your book Write down the recipe, its family connection, and the useful tips that never made it onto the original card.

Keep the autumn traditions that matter

The Harvest book gives every season its own chapter, with space to plan celebrations and record the recipes and traditions you want to keep.
